Question 1

How do I create my first round?

Accepted Answer

From the Home page, search for a golf course by name or zip code. Click 'Start Round' to begin. You can choose between a standard Local Golf Game (everyone playing at the same course), a Scramble team game, or a Remote Golf Match (players at different courses). Add your players, assign tee boxes, configure optional competitions, and launch your round.

Question 2

What's the difference between Local, Remote, and Scramble games?

Accepted Answer

• Local Golf Game: All players play at the same golf course together.
• Remote Golf Match: 2–4 players compete from different courses worldwide using WHS-compliant Score Differential calculations for fair competition.
• Scramble Round: Players form 2- to 4-person teams where everyone hits, chooses the best shot, and records one shared team score per hole.

Question 3

Do I need to create an account?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you need an account to organize rounds, post games, and maintain your player history. However, golfers who join via an organizer's shared link or PIN can check in and enter their own scores without registering an account.

Question 4

What is onboarding?

Accepted Answer

When you first sign up, you'll be prompted to create your player profile with your name, 10-digit phone number, and current handicap. Your phone number serves as your unique identifier linking your profile across all rounds.

Question 5

What is Golf Course Pace of Play / Course Pace History?

Accepted Answer

Pace of Play is AScorecard's crowdsourced 'Waze for Golf' directory. It provides real-world completion times, weekday versus weekend playing trends, and front/back 9 splits for courses played by our community, helping golfers know what to expect before booking tee times.

Question 6

How does the 25-Mile 'Nearby' Search work?

Accepted Answer

To keep the interface ultra-fast and clutter-free, course pace cards remain hidden until you run a search. Enter a 5-digit ZIP code, city name, or course title. The app calculates geographic distance and displays all courses within a 25-mile radius, complete with distance indicators in miles.

Question 7

How can I sort nearby course pace results?

Accepted Answer

Use the sorting dropdown to organize nearby courses by: Closest Distance, Lowest Average Time (fastest overall course), Fastest Recent Round, or Total Verified Rounds Recorded.

Question 8

What information is shown on a Course Pace History card?

Accepted Answer

Each course card displays:
• Target comparison badge evaluating overall pace against the standard 4-hour (18 hole) benchmark (e.g. 'On Pace', '+12m over target').
• Stacked Weekday and Weekend average completion times.
• Front 9 and Back 9 split times for both weekdays and weekends.
• Total verified completed rounds recorded for that venue.
• Date of the most recent recorded round.
• Proximity distance (miles away from your searched location).

Question 9

What is the 'Rounds in Progress' tab?

Accepted Answer

The 'Rounds in Progress' tab provides live visibility into active rounds currently being played across courses on AScorecard.com. You can see real-time elapsed times, current player counts, and live status badges.

Question 10

How is crowdsourced pace data verified and filtered?

Accepted Answer

Pace records are automatically created when players finish 18-hole rounds. To ensure data integrity, any rounds with corrupted, test, or unrealistic durations (under 1 hour or over 6 hours) are automatically filtered out so only valid real-world golf rounds calculate course averages.

Question 11

How does the 'Ready to Tee Off' prompt work?

Accepted Answer

Immediately upon opening an active round or claiming a player, golfers receive an automated 'Ready to Tee Off' prompt. Confirming tee-off starts the group clock accurately from your opening drive rather than when the first hole's score is submitted.

Question 12

Where are group pace timers located on the scorecard?

Accepted Answer

Group timers and real-time pace status badges are located directly in each group's header row, right beside the group name and member count. This provides clean visibility for the entire group without cluttering individual golfer score rows.

Question 13

What do the Group Pace Badges mean?

Accepted Answer

The group pace badge benchmarks your group's current hole against an expected 4-hour round (approx. 13.3 minutes per hole). Badges indicate whether your group is 'Ahead of Pace', 'On Pace', or 'Behind Pace' in real-time.

Question 14

What are Checkpoint Pace Reminders?

Accepted Answer

At holes 5 and 14, the app checks the elapsed time and displays a friendly checkpoint reminder. The dialog shows your group's current pace status, minutes ahead or behind schedule, and projected finish time.

Question 15

Can the round coordinator turn off pace reminders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Round Settings (or Game Settings), the coordinator can toggle 'Pace Reminders' on or off. When disabled, checkpoint reminder popups and pace badges are hidden, while the running group elapsed timer remains active in the header.

Question 16

What is the Front 9 Pace Check?

Accepted Answer

When any golfer in the round enters their score for hole 9, a Front 9 Pace Check popup appears displaying the exact time taken to play the first 9 holes. This gives groups a clear midpoint checkpoint to adjust their speed for the back nine.

Question 17

How does group timer completion work?

Accepted Answer

Once all members of a group complete hole 18, that group's timer automatically stops and records a fixed duration. Even if a score is later edited or reviewed, the completed elapsed time stays locked.

Question 18

What is a Scramble round in AScorecard?

Accepted Answer

A Scramble round allows 2-, 3-, or 4-person teams to compete together. All team members tee off, select the best shot, and hit from that spot until the ball is holed. Instead of entering individual strokes for every golfer, the scorecard is streamlined so only ONE shared team score is entered per hole.

Question 19

How do I set up teams for a Scramble?

Accepted Answer

During round setup (or via 'Edit Players' in an active round), toggle Scramble mode. Assign players to Team 1, Team 2, etc. You can designate a 'Team Scorer' who has dedicated permission to input the team's shared scores.

Question 20

How does the Scramble Scorecard Grid work?

Accepted Answer

The Scramble scorecard displays one consolidated row per team showing player names, team handicap allowance, hole-by-hole scores, and Front 9 / Back 9 / Total team scores. Color coding reflects team performance relative to par.

Question 21

How are Scramble leaderboards and payouts calculated?

Accepted Answer

Scramble leaderboards calculate team gross and net standings based on USGA-recommended scramble handicap percentage formulas. If prize purses are assigned, team payouts are split equally among team members.

Question 22

What is the 'Rules' button on the scorecard?

Accepted Answer

The 'Rules' button allows coordinators to publish custom house rules directly to the scorecard. This ensures all players understand local tournament conditions, winter rules (lift, clean & place), lateral hazard options, stroke limits, or tiebreakers.

Question 23

What does the pulsing indicator on the Rules button mean?

Accepted Answer

When a coordinator creates or updates the rules, a pulsing notification appears on the Rules button. It automatically clears once the player taps the button and reviews the latest rules.

Question 24

How do round coordinators add or edit rules?

Accepted Answer

The round coordinator clicks the 'Edit Scorecard' dropdown and selects 'Edit Rules'. A rich-text editor allows you to type, format, bold, bullet, and structure house rules. Changes update live across all player devices.

Question 25

What are Flights and how do they work?

Accepted Answer

Flights group golfers into separate competitive divisions based on handicap index ranges (e.g., Championship Flight 0–4, A Flight 5–11, B Flight 12–19). Players only compete against others in their own flight, ensuring fair matches across broad skill levels.

Question 26

How do I enable and configure Flights?

Accepted Answer

In Round Settings or Tournament Setup, toggle 'Enable Flights'. You can define flight names, set minimum and maximum handicap ranges, and manually adjust individual player flight assignments as needed.

Question 30

What is a Co-Scorer?

Accepted Answer

A Co-Scorer is an authorized golfer who can input and edit scores for all players in the round, not just their own card. Enable this by checking 'Co-Scorer' in the player settings.

Question 31

Can I replace a player during an active round?

Accepted Answer

Yes! If a player cannot attend or drops out before starting, the coordinator can use the 'Replace Player' option in Player Management. The incoming golfer takes over the slot with their own handicap while preserving existing group configurations.

Question 32

How do I withdraw a player mid-round?

Accepted Answer

Click 'Withdraw Player' during an active round. Withdrawn players are removed from active competition while their completed scores remain saved. For withdrawals after 9 or more holes, you can optionally auto-fill remaining holes with Net Par to preserve the round for USGA/WHS handicap qualification.

Question 33

How do I invite other golfers to enter scores on their phones?

Accepted Answer

Click 'Invite Players' on the active scorecard banner to generate a 6-digit PIN and shareable link. When golfers open the link, they select their name from the roster to 'claim' their card and input scores in real time.

Question 34

How do I invite spectators to watch live?

Accepted Answer

Click 'Invite Spectators' to copy a spectator-only link. Spectators can follow live hole-by-hole scores, leaderboards, and skins in real time without being able to edit scores.

Question 37

Can the coordinator unclaim or reassign a player?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If a golfer claims the wrong name, the coordinator can release the claim from Player Management so the correct player can check in.

Question 38

How do I enter scores?

Accepted Answer

Tap on any hole cell in the scorecard grid to enter a player's gross strokes. Scores save automatically and update gross/net totals and leaderboards immediately.

Question 39

Scores are color-coded relative to par:
• Dark Blue: Eagle or better
• Light Blue: Birdie
• Green: Par
• Orange: Bogey
• Red: Double Bogey or worse

Question 40

What is Dynamic Handicap (Bowen RTPH Index)?

Accepted Answer

Question 41

Can I collapse a tee time group's scorecard?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Tap the 'Hide' / 'Unhide' toggle on any group header to collapse that group's scorecard table, making navigation quick on mobile screens.

Question 42

What happens when all scores are entered?

Accepted Answer

Question 43

How do I configure games and competitions?

Accepted Answer

Click 'Edit Scorecard' and select 'Edit Games'. Choose from Overall Gross, Overall Net, Segment competitions, Skins, Match Play, Closest to Pin (CTP), Longest Drive, and The Snake.

Question 44

How do Per Player vs Per Game purse inputs work?

Accepted Answer

Each game offers a toggle: 'Per Player' lets you enter what each golfer contributes and computes the total pot. 'Per Game' lets you enter the total prize purse and calculates the per-player share. The 'Total Player Buy-In' summary keeps math transparent.

Question 45

What are the Skins payout formats?

Accepted Answer

• Fixed/Hole: Pays a fixed amount for each skin won.
• Winners Take All: Splits the total purse among all holes won outright.
• Most Skins: The golfer with the most skins takes the pot (ties split). Carryovers on ties can be enabled or disabled.

Question 46

What Match Play formats are available?

Accepted Answer

Match Play supports Singles (1v1), 3-Ball (1v1v1), 4-Ball Best Ball (2v2), Foursomes / Alternate Shot (2v2), and 4-Some Scramble (2v2).

Question 47

What is The Snake game?

Accepted Answer

Question 51

How are ties displayed on leaderboards?

Accepted Answer

Tied players share the position (e.g. T1, T2). For skins, tied holes either carry over or push depending on your rules. For leaderboard purses, prize money is divided equally among tied competitors.

Question 52

What is a Remote Golf Match?

Accepted Answer

A Remote Golf Match allows 2 to 4 golfers to compete while playing at different golf courses anywhere in the world. The system normalizes scores using USGA/WHS Course Ratings and Slope Ratings to calculate an exact Score Differential: (113 / Slope) × (Adjusted Gross - Course Rating). Lowest differential wins.

Question 53

When are competitors' scores revealed in Remote matches?

Accepted Answer

To ensure fair play, remote scorecards and differentials remain completely hidden until every competitor finishes all 18 holes and confirms 'Lock Scores'. Once everyone locks, the full leaderboard unlocks simultaneously.

Question 54

What is a Multi-Day Tournament?
